Europe’s leaders still split over Bush election

Britain and France were at odds over the re-election of US President George W. Bush on Friday, as the European Union struggled to adjust itself to the prospect of four more years of a Republican administration in Washington.

At an EU summit in Brussels, Tony Blair, UK prime minister, appeared confident that other European leaders were ready to repair the diplomatic rifts opened by the Iraq war.
