Egypt opposition calls for election boycott

The Muslim Brotherhood, the largest opposition force in Egypt, has called for a boycott of local elections due on Tuesday in protest at the government’s failure to abide by court rulings allowing its candidates to run.

The Brotherhood says the authorities have disregarded 3,000 court decisions that oblige them to accept the nominations of independent candidates backed by the group.
