Ad agencies to cut staff

The woes of the automotive sector are triggering job cuts in advertising agencies as the marketing world prepares for a dire 2009.

Omnicom became the first of the large agency holding companies to reveal large-scale redundancies in mid-December when it said that it would be cutting just under 5 per cent of its workforce, estimated at about 3,000 people.
