France mulls allowing class-action suits

France is considering changing its legal code to allow class-action lawsuits, just as President George W. Bush is seeking to limit the scale of such controversial collective actions in the US.

President Jacques Chirac has asked his government to examine how "groups of consumers and their associations could bring collective actions against abusive practices that have been observed in certain markets".
