Disputes mar EBRD annual meeting in Belgrade

A diplomatic row and a $50m business dispute yesterday cast a cloud over the annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Serbia.

Belgrade hoped to use the meeting of the EBRD, the multilateral bank for the former Communist bloc, as a platform for hailing its reforms and economic growth. The EBRD wanted the gathering, held under the motto "Building Bridges", to promote regional co-operation.
