It’s not the same without Prescott

As Labour delegates trudged out of the conference hall for the last time in 2007, election speculation was mounting again across the airwaves, backed by news that party officials had taken steps to fill important campaign jobs.

Were we excited? Well, the editors of the BBC1 lunchtime news were so enthused they thought this was the sixth most important item on its schedule, so the nation is obviously bursting with the thrill of it all.
