Ireland probes HSBC role in Madoff scandal

The Irish financial regulator is investigating HSBC in relation to the bank’s role as custodian for the feeder funds invested with Bernard Madoff’s “Ponzi” scheme.

A spokesman for the Irish regulator told the Financial Times on Wednesday it was “involved in ongoing investigations with all the relevant parties including the custodians and the board of directors of the funds”.
