It seems impossible to avoid the latest twists in business travel’s impact on the environment. The UK government last week indicated it would shift air passenger duty from passenger to airline, in a nod to the arguments of low-cost airlines.

Shortly it will publish its thoughts on a third runway at Heathrow, and the autumn will feature the opening of the long-awaited UK high-speed rail link at St Pancras.
