More big companies consider UK tax exodus

More large businesses are considering moving their tax base out of Britain according to a survey, deflating hopes that a planned reform of the multinational tax regime would put an end to corporate defections.

The proportion considering moving their tax residence out of the UK jumped from 6 per cent in 2007 to 14 per cent in 2008, according to a poll of 50 big businesses by KPMG, the professional services group.
