World leaders across Europe and Asia on Friday congratulated Tony Blair for overcoming the divisive issue of Iraq to win his third term as UK prime minister.

Jacques Chirac, French president and leader of European opposition to the Iraq war, omitted the subject from a letter of congratulation, saying he was ”delighted” to continue working with Mr Blair on critical tasks like European Union integration.
