Broadcaster urges awards fiasco inquiry

Channel Television, a broadcaster, on Friday called for a police investigation into a television scandal in which an award the audience had decided should go to Catherine Tate, the comedienne, was presented to Ant and Dec, the entertainers, instead.

Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, fined Channel Television £80,000 over premium-rate telephone scandals at the British Comedy Awards screened on ITV1 in 2004 and 2005.
