Chu warns on clean technologies funding gap

The US stands to miss out on a multi-billion dollar market in clean energy technologies unless it acts quickly to catch up with investment by countries including China and Japan, Steven Chu, the US energy secretary, said on Tuesday.

His warning came as the Senate environment and public works committee began discussing a climate change bill that, if passed, could bring about a dramatic reduction in the US’s greenhouse gas emissions.
