Drug delivery group Consort Medical has embarked on an £8m restructuring plan to help it cope with increases in demand.

Consort makes breathing tubes and inhaler devices for asthma patients. It also manufactures face masks – including bubblegum scented masks for children – to deliver inhaled anaesthetic drugs. About one third of the 300m people in the world who have asthma use a Consort inhaler to deliver their medicine.
