Investors give their backing

In a year in which executive pay has sparked rows with companies, investors largely applauded the FSA’s new code on pay, although some consultants warned about unintended consequences.

Shareholders, who have been much criticised for not using their power to halt the bonuses now blamed for fuelling the financial crisis, welcomed the move to less prescription while retaining the link between bonuses, risk and the cost of capital.
