Candover woes go on despite end of bid talks

Candover’s announcement on Monday that it had broken off takeover talks with potential buyers cleared only part of the uncertainty around the ailing private equity group, which said it was still considering splitting itself into two.

The group received a range of proposals, such as outright takeover or a minority stake sale, from rival groups including Blackstone, Electra and Coller Capital. But none were judged to give shareholders sufficient value.
