Like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, Egyptian newspapers lure readers with sports, celebrity gossip, and lurid crime stories. But some of the largest circulation dailies have hit upon another way to boost their readership – pages filled with questions taken from the end-of-the-year school exams that are many a middle class Egyptian family’s greatest source of anxiety.
Egypt’s obsession with exams, say experts, is natural enough given the difference that even a few points can make to a student’s life, determining his or her career path.
