US business groups yesterday said Russia would need to improve its record on intellectual property protection to win their support for the country's push for membership of the World Trade Organisation.

Russia, which has accused Washington of throwing up last-minute obstacles to its membership, is in the final stages of bilateral talks with the US about membership.
