Headhunters set for wave of mandates

City headhunters are gearing up for a wave of new mandates as banks look to capitalise on a resurgent market. Hiring generally slows in September as bankers become less willing to decamp for rivals so close to year-end, while their bonuses are being determined.

However, executive search firms said aggressive hiring by some institutions combined with a sustained boom in the equity and debt markets has sparked movement even in the middle of those calculations.
