Dramatic operation foils plot

The surveillance operation to foil Germany’s most serious terror threat in years lasted nine months and came to a dramatic end in an unremarkable village in western Germany on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of Germany’s GSG9 special forces squad raided a holiday home in Oberschledorn, 60km west of Kassel, to capture the three alleged plotters who were said to be planning “massive” car bomb attacks on US targets in Germany.
