Anglo ahead as it weighs Xstrata defence

Anglo American beat a falling market on Monday amid speculation about how it could defend itself from another bid from Xstrata.

Shares in Anglo edged 0.6 per cent higher to £26.03 after Cazenove said the miner should consider recapitalising Anglo Platinum (Amplats), its 80 per cent-owned subsidiary.
