Lloyds to underwrite less business in 2005

The Lloyd’s of London insurance market responded to pressure on premium rates by confirming it would underwrite less business next year.

The world’s oldest insurance market said its 2005 capacity, the aggregate amount of business its syndicate members are permitted to underwrite, would fall 9 per cent to £13.7bn, from £14.9bn in 2004 and in 2003.
