Face it, BLF – beards are passé

Sir, I was amused to note that the Bank of England has been named the UK’s Beard Friendly Employer of 2009. However, in deciding to replace one “beardy”, Charles Dickens, with another, Charles Darwin, on the £10 note, the Bank is not actually “signalling beards equal gravitas and authority” as was suggested by the Beard Liberation Front but is merely sticking to a well-known anti-counterfeiting strategy.
