Setanta scores in TV shoot-out

Setanta, the sports broadcaster, has picked up a bigger-than-expected share of live Premiership television rights after a keen auction that should trigger a new bonanza for English football.

The Irish sports pay channel, which is partly owned by Benchmark Capital, has walked off with two of the six packages, paying £392m for live rights to 46 Premiership matches for three seasons starting in 2007-08.
