Car parts group cuts 300 jobs

Motor World has cut 300 jobs after going into administration. The Huddersfield-based car parts and accessories retailer made the cuts after closing 95 of its 237 outlets around the UK.

BDO Stoy Hayward, the chain's administrators, said they had succeeded in selling the remaining 142 to Pacific Retail, a company founded by the existing investors Bailey Capital. In August Britain's car sector reported its slowest month for sales since 1966.
