Japan’s court approves Bull-Dog poison pill

A Japanese appeals court on Monday ended Steel Partners’ attempt to take over Bull-Dog Sauce, rejecting the US hedge fund’s appeal against a poison pill defence by the condiment maker.

The high court said Bull-Dog could block Steel Partners’ “abusive” hostile bid by issuing new shares to other investors – a decision analysts said would strengthen defences against unwanted bidders in Japan.
