Dollar pulls away from the pack

The dollar continued its strong run this week, hitting a six-month high against the euro and a two-year peak against sterling as the economic slowdown outside of the US gathered pace.

Analysts said there was increasing evidence that the dollar, which hit a record low against the euro of $1.6038 just a month ago, had emerged from its seven-year bear trend.
