Icahn steps down from Yahoo board

Carl Icahn, the billionaire activist investor, is stepping down from the board of Yahoo, a company he last year urged Microsoft to buy.

Mr Icahn said in his resignation letter that the internet company had achieved much since he joined the board in the summer of 2008 – the result of a compromise deal after he had tried to oust Jerry Yang, chief executive, and the rest of the board.
