Mike Ashley will settle for a price of about £300m ($540m) for Newcastle United, which would leave him with a profit of about £50m from his troubled 15-month reign as owner of the beleaguered Premier League club, according to people familiar with the sale.

The sales prospectus is now complete and documents requiring would-be buyers to sign confidentiality agreements to examine the club’s books have been prepared.
