Verwaayen has track record in enforcing change

Ben Verwaayen, the new chief executive of Alcatel-Lucent, has taken on one of the toughest jobs in the telecoms industry.

He made light of that point on Tuesday, highlighting how he had led the turnround of BT, the UK’s leading fixed-line phone company.
