Obama hails ‘spirit of partnership’ at Clinton summit

US president Barack Obama on Tuesday called for “a new spirit of global partnership” to combat threats ranging from violent extremism and climate change to poverty and pandemic disease.

Speaking at former US president Bill Clinton’s annual philanthropic summit in New York, Mr Obama said a “transformational moment in world history” required “creative collaborations” between governments, non-profits and individuals.
