Wolseley, the world’s leading supplier of heating and plumbing products with a large US presence, on Monday warned of more job cuts and said it was impossible to predict when the difficult trading conditions might end.

“With all our businesses there will be some more job cuts around the edges, but it will be targeted, more rifle shots than sweeping,” said Ian Meakins, Wolseley’s new chief executive.
