The stands may still be restrained and the parties relatively parsimonious, but a palpable sense of relief can be felt around Baselworld this year, as the world’s watch and jewellery leaders emerge from one of their deepest crises in decades.
Although Switzerland’s watch and equipment makers account for only about a quarter of the more than 2,000 exhibitors at this year’s show, their visibly improved confidence after a testing year should set the tone for the entire industry at its annual keynote event.
