The Wall may have fallen but not enough changed

One Sunday afternoon almost 20 years ago, I took a break from filming news to visit a place I never expected to see: my grandmother’s ancestral home in Saxony, deep in the heart of communist East Germany.

The Berlin Wall had fallen days previously. With it went many of the restrictions placed on westerners travelling behind the Iron Curtain.
