Positive talks but no breakthrough on Iran's nuclear aims

European and Iranian negotiators said talks in Vienna yesterday on Tehran's nuclear programme had been positive but there were no signs of breakthrough on the key issue of uranium enrichment.

British, German and French officials, and European Union diplomats, had asked for a response to a package presented last week to persuade Iran to halt its uranium enrichment activities in line with a resolution by the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
