Iran criticises UK for Rushdie’s knighthood

Iran on Sunday condemned the granting of a British knighthood to Salman Rushdie as “an obvious example of fighting Islam”.

Mohammad-Ali Hosseini, the foreign ministry spokesman,said the author was “among the most hated personalities in the Muslim world”. Mr Rushdie was knighted in the Queen’s birthday honours list over the weekend.
