Guernsey is best known as a location for in-house insurance companies, but it is now setting its sights on other parts of the insurance and reinsurance industries.

The island is Europe’s biggest centre for captives – insurance companies set up by non-insurers. At January 31 2007, it had 715 licensed insurance entities, including 294 captives.
