Crops suffer as heatwave brings on early harvest

Farmers are struggling to bring in the harvest as the heatwave and drought have disrupted normal growing cycles and threaten severely to depress agricultural yields.

The harvest has been two weeks or more early as crops such as wheat have ripened in the strong sunshine.
