JD Wetherspoon brews up recipe for sales success

Foreign beers and cheap meals have kept sales steady at JD Wetherspoon, as the pubs group capitalises on the sagging labour market to increase productivity and modestly steps up its expansion programme.

Wetherspoon now expects to open 38 pubs for the full year, up from a previous estimate of 35, as the company finds cheaper ways of opening new pubs.
