Infrastructure: Too little for too long, but PAC may put things on track

Of all the challenges facing growth in Brazil, the one that crops up most often in conversations with officials, bankers and businesspeople is infrastructure.

Henrique Meirelles, president of the central bank, says shortage of infrastructure is the biggest risk for the country over the next five years. “We do have a potential infrastructure problem if the next government doesn’t deliver,” he says, adding that the present government is already investing.
