Lianhua, China's largest supermarket operator, is to go head to head with Wal-Mart and Carrefour in a three-way race for Trust-mart, one of the country's leading retail chains, set to be worth more than US$1bn.
People close to the situation said Lianhua had joined its US and French rivals among the companies likely to submit preliminary bids for Trust-mart by next week's deadline.
