China’s Sinosteel wins control of Midwest

Sinosteel has clinched majority control of Midwest, ending a dramatic seven month battle that saw the Chinese steelmaker competing with local rival Murchison Metals for the Australian iron ore group.

The Chinese group, which is offering A$1.36bn or A$6.38 a share in cash, now owns 50.97 per cent of Midwest.
