Trendspotter: Deep-seated design

As an art movement in the early 20th century, surrealism was all about representing what went on in the subconscious mind. Today it is creeping back into the world of design, with everyone from fashion designers to furniture-makers naming it as an inspiration.

But it is not all about satin-lined wheelbarrows, ceremonial hats and beaver fur bracelets – a few of the surreal objects that recently made up the exhibition Surreal Things: Surrealism and Design at the V&A in London.
