Nazareth to step down from SEC

Annette Nazareth, the only remaining Democrat at the Securities and Exchange Commission, said on Monday she would leave at the end of this month, leaving the US markets regulator with only three commissioners.

Her departure comes as the SEC is working on a new system of “mutual recognition” with foreign regulators that would allow foreign exchanges and brokers direct access to US investors for the first time.
