Doha round: The saga that became a never-ending story

The European summer: a time for international football tournaments, beach holidays, barbecues and Wimbledon fortnight. And, of course, a more recently created annual ritual: the collapse of the Doha round.

The global round of trade negotiations, named after the Qatari city in which they were launched nearly seven long and largely fruitless years ago, came to yet another head in July.
