Chuck Prince on Sunday resigned as chairman and chief executive of Citigroup after four years of turbulent reign at the world’s largest financial services institution.

Citi suffered a series of regulatory setbacks in Mr Prince’s earlier years in office and has come under increasing criticism over its lax ethical standards, sluggish growth, and spiralling costs. The bank’s share price has underperformed the broader market and many of its rivals.
