Ford steps up drive towards more hybrids

Ford Motor will accelerate the introduction of hybrid petrol-electric vehicles over the next three years as part of a drive to differentiate itself in the increasingly crowded car and truck market.

Outlining the Detroit carmaker's strategy, Bill Ford, chairman, told analysts on Tuesday that Ford planned to introduce four new hybrid models worldwide over the next three years, building on the success of its Escape Hybrid sport utility vehicle in North America.
