Egypt contitutional vote marred by low turnout

The Egyptian justice minister on Tuesday announced that 75.9 per cent of voters had approved controversial amendments to the constitution in a referendum.

The opposition, including the popular Muslim Brotherhood group, had called for a boycott of Monday’s vote because they reject the changes as a setback for democracy and civil liberties.
