Google in Android deal with Verizon

Google on Tuesday won its biggest endorsement from a mobile phone company for its Android mobile operating system, with Verizon Wireless of the US announcing a multi-year partnership to launch phones, netbooks and PDAs based on it.

The deal will mean that Google and Verizon – the largest mobile carrier in the US – take on Apple and the iPhone, which is marketed exclusively by AT&T in the US.
