TCI tussle a showcase for investor rights

Masayoshi Kitamura, executive vice-president of J-Power, has just finished an intensive week visiting European and US shareholders who make up 37 per cent of his shareholder base.

He has been defending the Tokyo-based electricity company’s stance in an increasingly acrimonious fight with The Children’s Investment Fund, the UK-based activist fund manager that has demanded a series of corporate reforms.
