Overview: Weak financials lead equities lower

Persistent concerns about the health of the financial sector and intensifying worries about the broader economic outlook kept global equity markets under pressure on Tuesday.

Inflation also reappeared on investors’ radar screens as strong core wholesale prices figures in the US and Germany triggered fears that rising energy costs were spilling over into the prices being charged by producers.
